If you are experiencing slowness on Chrome or some sites aren't working as expected, consider removing any unnecessary browser extensions that may be bogging down or changing site functionality.

In Chrome

  1. At the top right of the Chrome browser, click the menu button
  2. Click More Tools > Extensions. This will open a new tab showing all installed extensions.
  3. Look for any extensions that aren't needed that you can disable or remove. Remove or disable things like adblockers or extensions not related to work.
  4. Type chrome://restart into the address bar and hit enter to restart the browser

What happens next

After removing unnecessary extensions, chrome needs to be restarted to fully unload them. The fewer extensions you have running, the less likely chrome will bog down your computer or cause unexpected results.  This can fix some issues with slowness or websites running in unexpected ways.

In some cases, third-party extensions can be malicious and shouldn't be trusted. Exercise caution when installing any extensions not supported by major developers like Google or Microsoft.
